After all, the precision and accuracy required for tactical movements are much higher.
Others have comfortable straps so you can wear them around your neck. Take time in choosing a telescope, as most department store telescopes just do not fit the bill. Furthermore, binoculars with a wide field of view allow a user to observe a wide area, making it easier to observe star clusters, comets, and galactic clouds. Binoculars with a magnification power greater than 10 will be difficult to hold steady.
You want to keep these for years to come so you might as well be comfortable. And don't forget about small children and their fascination with dropping electronic equipment in toilets.
